Altsounds - Your Friend For Lunch

So What is Altsounds.com?

AltSounds is an international alternative online music community. By ‘Alternative’ we don’t mean ‘Alt Rock,’ we mean it as its technical definition - Alternative to the mainstream. It’s about having a choice, both in music and where you go to hear it. At AltSounds, we have designed a community that gives listeners a place to find the best new music available in an environment that works for them and with them. For artists, we have designed profiles that work like EPKs and have built-in, automatic promotion to help them gain new fans and create their own buzz more easily. For labels, we have designed an inexpensive promotion and advertising system that allows them to reach a large focused audience with incredible ease. We have seen what else is out there and decided it wasn’t good enough. Other sites do not satisfy all of our needs as fans, musicians, and artist promoters. We needed a site that could do it all without costing fans money, crashing regularly and sounding like shit, and the only way to get it was to build it ourselves.

AltSounds is committed to providing the best possible service to artists, labels and especially fans by making the site wholly interactive and constantly fresh. We encourage fans to express themselves through the site by adding the content that THEY care about. We create our own original content and offer our expert opinions on various facets of music, as well as collect the most important and entertaining content available online. We bring the fans exactly what they want, and gather it into the most functional and visually appealing music site on the internet. Being so ‘fan-focused’ has allowed us to create a promotional system for artists unparalleled in other alleged artist sites. In addition to having profiles laid out more like EPKs, acting as the ‘ultimate fan page,’ the built-in promotion and advertising for premium artists allows the high quality music to cycle through the entire site, bringing it to people’s attention no matter where they are or what they are doing. Premium artists are also included in our various radio stations, making their music even more accessible, and also qualifying them for additional front page, on-site and off-site promotion. AltSounds provides artists with all of the tools necessary to take them to the next level of promotion.

There is no other site like AltSounds, as we are the first to fully understand what it means to be a fan, be a musician, and work in the biz. We have a created a site from that perspective and know you will love it.

Welcome to AltSounds.com!

  • Qemists - Hurt Less [Single]

Well, you weren't expecting sophistication from me and I certainly won't disappoint; I doubt if there's ever been a review written about a Qemists track without a mention of Pendulum, so may I just say Pendulum, Pendulum, Pendulum and finally Pen-dew-fucking-lumm. • Solutions - Before the Roars [Album]

The first time I listened to Solutions (http://www.myspace.com/solutionsmusic)’ debut album, “Before the Roars”, it reminded me of the Blink-182 era weirdly and, without actually sounding like Blink-182. Solutions manage to preserve that old fashioned, college-punk atmosphere in their songs and...

  • Shaolin Temple of Boom - The Equinox [Album]

When the CD by a band called Shaolin Temple of Boom dropped onto my door mat to review, my heart dropped. • The Lowdown: Zakk Wylde

My phone interview with Zakk Wylde was meant to be on a Sunday morning: I wouldn't have done that for anyone else. But guess what? It didn't happen. About Bleed Electric

Bleed Electric is the brainchild of Welsh based Music Producer and Media Specialist Chris Maguire aka Mug5. Hailing originally from Blackwood in South Wales, Chris has extensively worked his magic all over the world. With a musical taste much more eclectic than the average Joe, Chris spent 2 years putting together beats every time something highly emotional happened in his life. This creation of emotionally fueled beats and music was aptly named Bleed Electric and although at the time Chris was working on other projects, Bleed Electric showcased the multiple dimensions of Chris' mind and personality sometimes going to depths completely unexpected. Metaphorically Chris was bleeding all his emotions into the electrical equipment he used to spawn the tunes.

Bleed Electric - Cosmic

During 2008 Chris spent every Screamadelica Studios down day working on his Bleed Electric material and by the end of 2008 the self titled debut concept album had been fully formed and finished. Listening over and over whilst comparing the musical sounds to the detailed concept storyline Chris realized that although the music perfectly tells the story that unless someone was able to penetrate his mind they might not catch on to the sheer depth of the concept of this album. This is where both Silk and Siege stepped in to fully realize the potential of the Bleed Electric project and to make it something truly unique and musically different to anything that has ever been heard. Silk and Siege recorded their second mix-tape with Chris during November 2008 and the sheer quality of the lyricism and vocal delivery sparked the idea of turning Bleed Electric into a real band, one that is original and never before seen or done. Let's call it the perfect marriage of skillset combined into one massive and powerful mix.

Bleed Electric - Future Fresh

After 3 years, Bleed Electric was finally born! The addition of both Silk and Siege to the band has filled every void. The poetic, real lyrics penned by Silk and Siege clearly define the concept storyline making it clear to every listener. That coupled with the music also matching the concept perfectly makes for a very detailed album that has been thoroughly thought out and planned from seed all the way to crop. Mug5, Silk and Siege are visually a melting pot too with each individual coming from completely different backgrounds and enjoying completely different music than one another. This tied together makes Bleed Electrics originality of sound unlike anything that has ever existed before and that will probably not happen ever again. Let's just put it down to fate. Being at the right place, at the right time.

Sit back and let Bleed Electric take you on a musical journey that you have never before experienced. There will be moments where it will scare you, moments it will force you to dance and anything [and everything] in between, above and beyond. Bleed Electric are history in the making. Make sure you can tell your friends that you loved Bleed Electric before anyone knew them!

Manchester Orchestra

Manchester Orchestra
Manchester Orchestra

Here’s another one for our bands that are lazy when it comes to press. We were asked to do an e-mail interview with Manchester Orchestra so we sent over 10 questions. We were then asked to send another 10 questions to make “the interview perfect”. And since then we have never received anything. We are even following up and apparently “it doesn’t look likely”.

Yet another band that are rubbish at press. This neglect will end up really hurting this band because people can only handle having their time wasted once before they lose interest. Manchester Orchestra, if you are asking us or other press outlets to do an interview  with you then follow it up!!!!  Otherwise you might find yourselves getting less coverage than you deserve.

RANT OVER.

Firefox

Is it me or has what was supposed to be the new, awesome browser become just as buggy and crap as Internet Explorer? There was a moment there where Firefox really was amazing, fast and stood out from the crowd. Of late I find my work being restricted and culled by Firefox deciding to crash on me. Now if this happened once in a while that would be one thing but it happens at least once a day which is in all honesty starting to get annoying.  It isn’t just one computer either it is on all computers.

I could go with Chrome but I don’t like the form elements in that browser and IE is just as annoying as it always was. The world is dying out for a new browser that Firefox should have remained to be. OR, Firefox should up their game and work on what is causing all of their crashes. As it stands Firefox is still the best browser for me personally BUT, I wish that it was as solid and strong as it used to be because right now it is becoming a huge time-waster for me more often than not.
