In their mere one year of existence, Corban Eldra has accomplished more than most bands do in an entire lifetime. Emerging from the burgeoning Oklahoma City music scene, the five member band is virtually reinventing emotional hardcore driven rock for the new millennium.
“There is just something about Corban Eldra” said Tim Ottley, of Cook Management, the powerhouse agency behind the success of POD, Blindside and Year of the Rabbit, after seeing Corban Eldra live, “ they have one of those magic things you so rarely see in a band – hard to say what it is...but they definitely have something special.”
The band’s energetic and emotional live show has also propelled them to victory in several local band showcases including the final round of The Where-House prestigious New Band Tournament where they played for some of the industry’s most influential people and labels.
“We’re just trying to do something positive” says Israel Hindman, Corban Eldra’s expressive lead vocalist, “we just always try to be humble and never think we’re rock stars.” Although the band strives to distance themselves from traditional rock star trappings, stardom may not be too far off. Corban Eldra has already shared the stage with the likes of Thursday, One Line Drawing, Blindside, and Rufio, and is currently becoming one of Oklahoma City’s hottest tickets drawing a rabid fanbase wherever they play.
“We try to go all out and put on the best show that we can for the fans” says Corban Eldra guitarist Dustin Maynord of the band’s live performance. More of an event than just a mere concert, the band’s shows are an amalgam of passion, energy, and raw emotion that often leaves broken gear and guitar straps in their wake.
“We just try to feel the music” says Corban Eldra bassist Kyle Mayfield, “we want to give the fans the best show possible.”
Most fans would agree Corban Eldra is doing just that.
“Corban Eldra is by far the best opening band that we’ve played with” said Mike Tubbs, lead singer of Floodgate records artist, East West after a recent show with Corban Eldra “they’re just incredible”. Tour mates Lucerin Blue echoed the sentiment saying “these guys are good enough to make it big time.”
