Biography

 Influenced by hip hop, hard core rock and metal, funk, reggae, and kung fu, Kongcrete is a lively NYC-based band with a unique sound, live show....and backflips. Yes, backflips. FullMetal MC's aggressive style demonstrates a vocal range that is not seen in any contemporary hip hop or reggae artist. He can growl and scream while maintaining street smart and introspective sensibilities. When Kongcrete speaks, buildings fall, howls FullMetal MC, reflecting the bands ambitions to do something completely different, honest, and authentically their own. EvildoG's punishing low-tuned guitar riffs provide the grit and raw aggression. When combined with Jeffs rattle-smack funk bass lines and Gene's energetic drum rhythms, Kongcrete is a musicians band; yet it provides the underlying rhythmic and melodic hooks that create the cross-over appeal to both hard rock and hip hop listeners who have been disenchanted with mainstream rap rock. "I've never heard anything like it. This is a show you can't miss. They're heavy and there's hip hop, but its not rap rock. Its a really fresh sound. Plus, their singers crazy," remarked DJ Johnny Royale at The Lucky Cat in his review of a performance by Kongcrete. Each band member brings individual strengths, ethnicities, and divergent influences which combine to break rules with a big sound. While Kongcrete and its "Ghetto Rock" are new, each band member was an accomplished musician in other successful bands before they formed Kongcrete. Kongcrete originally began with a shared vision between Taiwo "FullMetal MC" D'Aguilar (vocalist) and Jack "EvildoG" Jankowicz (guitarist), but it did not crystallize until the arrival of Jeff To (bass) and Gene D. Williams (drums) late in 2004. Since then, Kongcrete has created ground-breaking material and has been gradually developing a strong fan base through their performances in New York City's respected venues such as CBGB, Don Hills, Arlene's Grocery, Remote Lounge, Wild Spirits, and The Pyramid.
