Biography
In a time where bands boasting about blending melody to brutality are a dime a dozen, few step up to the plate as imposing as Montreal's 3 Mile Scream. While combining near lethal doses of Slayer like thrash metal to the crushing brutality of death metal, the band strives to maintain between beauty and aggression throughout their debut album "A Prelude to Our Demise".
"We bring in a variety of influences to our sound, we try to mix a good blend of melody and brutality in both the vocals and the music. We kinda have something for every metal fan, whether they like all out ripping thrash, intricate melodies and harmonies, or pure death metal", says frontman Matt McGachy.
Enlisting the aid of acclaimed producer J-F Dagenais (Malevolent Creation, Kataklysm, Misery Index) and engineer UE Nastasi (Killswitch Engage, Strapping Young Lad, Candiria, ), 3 Mile Scream laid down their punishing Corporate Punishment debut. A stunning blend of European influenced metal; old-school thrash and classic death metal make "A Prelude to Our Demise" album a true testament to 3 Mile Scream's ever evolving sound.
"It's kind of weird because you have all these bands that are coming out nowadays saying they were influenced by At The Gates and In Flames because it's the in thing to like them, but who were those same bands listening to 5 or 6 years ago when it wasn't cool to like metal? We've always been big into the European metal scene and that had a huge impact on our sound, along with the old Bay Area Thrash scene and groups like Testament and Exodus", says 3 Mile Scream bassist Mike Marino.
Formed in early 2002, 3 Mile Scream was created out of the ashes of various metal group's throughout the Montreal scene. Embracing a "no sleep, no need" work ethic, the band went on to play countless gigs opening up for mainstream heavyweights like Unearth, Soulfly, Cryptopsy, God Forbid, Strapping Young Lad, Cannae, Bury Your Dead and A Perfect Murder. 3 Mile Scream's explosive live show, a maelstrom of intense unrelenting metal, quickly helped the band win a cult like following throughout the metal and hardcore scene all without any help from management or a record label.
"We've always made this band our number one priority and everyone in the band has to give us 110% dedication. We"ve all endured hardships to make this work", says Marino.
Around this time, the band's buzz caught the ear of Thom Hazaert, who signed the band to up-and-coming indie powerhouse Corporate Punishment Records. With a November 21st, 2006 release date set for "A Prelude to Our Demise", 3 Mile Scream are determined to unleash their brand of metal with a vengeance. Never compromising their drive to succeed and a dedication to unleash some of the most punishing metal, this band is dead-set on proving time and time again that they are not one to be overlooked.
