PARK is from Springfield, Illinois. They played around the local scene for a while, and the national scene for the best part of seven years. This incarnation is the fifth version of PARK. PARK plays music to save themselves from a world that offers them only a place on the outside. They are driven to escape this tangle of depression through musical expression. They stand as a bridge over the divide between the holders and givers of love, emotion and feelings.
PARK is modern rock. The sound of PARK is large but the songs themselves remain humble. They perform natural tunes crafted from the variety of experience in Mid-West America. The lyrics of PARK reflect prisms of secret thought, they state the hidden world with grace. Hard, soft, colorful, plain – each vignette true to itself. The songs they play refuse to leave the head; they are riffy without being hooky.
In October 2001, Lobster Records released the debut PARK album, “No Signal.” This work ranges over themes of self-discovery and first developed the rich sound that became the hallmark of PARK. With the release of “No Signal,” PARK embarked on a yearlong non-stop North American tour, three times around.
PARK returned to California to record “It Won’t Snow Where You’re Going,” released in November 2003. This acclaimed album surged through the souls of fans worldwide with its dark, hard mood. PARK went on the road again and circled the U.S. three times in 2004 and three times in 2005.
In March 2006 PARK recorded “Building A Better _______,” their third album with producer Cameron Webb (Social Distortion, Over It, Sum 41). This release is exquisite PARK, a work of hidden fury and tender mercy describing what they know best, the outsider looking in. PARK ran the road for the balance of the year.
In February 2007, band leader Ladd Mitchell announced that PARK would bid farewell to the circus of rock and roll so that he might concentrate his time on the joys of family. Other band members are expected to announce their future gigs.
On May 5th, 2007, PARK bid a fond farewell to their most die-hard fans, as they played one last hometown show in front of a sold out crowd of over 700. On the same day, the band released a DVD titled Weathering A Summer, which documents the final year of the band's career. With this documentary, their albums, and our vivid memories of their countless live shows over the years, PARK will live on in our hearts and in our memories for ages to come
