Biography
Florida brings us Indorphine, from Orlando. This Progressive, 5-piece, has a pure uniqueness about their metal. This record has a personality about it, not disguised as another "sounds-like". Vocally and instrumenatally diverse, powerful, and influential. "Glowsticks For Clubbing Baby Seals" is an excellent release, displaying all-or at least most of what influences made them who they are.
The most noticeable thing throughout this album, is the impact that each member and instrument make on the whole. Tanner Owings' Bass skill is heavily audible, throughout. Two Guitars is usually a plus. Buddy Fischel and Adam Phillips share strong, distinguished roles on guitar. Sounds like two lead guitarists playing different songs. Everett Sailor is equally abusive to his drums. There's no doubt he can supply a beat for for any occasion.
Combined with jimmy Grant's infectious vocals, "Glowsticks For Clubbing Baby Seals" is a complete package for any listener that likes beauty and melody served up with their heavy metal. No specific tracks stand out to me, as this is the best new front-to-back record I have spun in a long time. Indorphine's musical creativity erupts on this project, and their fun-loving side shines through for at the end of the record and on their title selection. -crave
