Biography
"Trouble just seems to follow us around, no matter what, and as long as this band exists, she'll (trouble) be there, laughing with us " states MIDASUNO's (pronounced my-das-who-know) frontman Scott Andrews although said to possess some of the same of the striking similarities with the leaders of today's musical alternative movements the H.I.M's, the My Chemical Romance's etc this is someone unlike the others who isn't afraid to really share his blood with the people, to bare all and not leave anything to rock n' roll mysticism. "We (MIDASUNO) are not representing a musical movement, or a moment in time; we are the real thing the real anything can happen at any moment thing that the people have forgot to believe in, and remind themselves that good proper rock n' roll was all about the danger and the unknown"

MIDASUNO themselves thus far have turned in a comparatively colourful history.- within six months of forming in Xmas 2000 they appeared at the revered In The City Manchester event in 2001 (The band's first show outside their home country, Wales) to performing alongside the likes of A Perfect Circle, Cave-In, The Darkness, Funeral For A Friend, and LostProphets, to picking up a 'Best Unsigned Band' at the 2002 Welsh Music Awards. Following this, the band released their two-track Stuart Richardson (LostProphets fame) produced single 'The Art Of Fear' on Cardiff's Cascade Records, from which the band then followed up with the mini-album 'When Bulls Play God' on Lockjaw Records, which has earned plaudits (tracks featured on both Rock Sound and Metal Hammer compilations) and received rave reviews from recognized sources such as Metal Hammer (8/10), Rock Sound (7/10), Terrorizer (8/10) Big Cheese Magazine (4/5), BBC Music Online (4/5) as well as published and online-based fanzines. As well as the music, the trail of blood (their own and others), instances and hilarious events (soon to be documented by Orange book writers winner's award Rachel Trezise's forthcoming book in "Dial M for Merthyr"; released in winter 2006) has kept the band's presence in welsh music's spotlight in recent times.

Following a number of both line-up (the departure of guitarist and sixth member Ryan Day) and label based struggles, the band have prepared 2006's release' the E.P '"Til Death Do Us Party" the outfit's first in almost three years, as a stunning statement of intent a massive aural 'fuck you and thank you' to the forces that have surrounded the band's seemingly ever fateful campaign as an unsigned band to actually continue to create music that will move people regardless of musical orientation. "Everything is in the urgency, the delivery, the raw ingredients of music the things that make your hairs stand up on end, the spark that makes you want to see that band live that's all we live for and anyone who has seen us live can testify this" Recorded at Strongbox Studios based in Penarth, Cardiff with Nick Lloyd (Sparks Lights & Flames, Ipsofacto, DirtyPerfect, Kaptain Black) at the production helm, the partnership of Lloyd and the band have captured the amalgam of former's epic production with the band's balls-to-the-floor workout's resulting in the bands most accessible yet crushing piece of work yet. "Whether it be a cowbell, and industrial drum loop or a fucking penny whistle, we've been able to try anything to achieve maximum impact sonically and structure-wise."

Featuring tracks recorded at as a part of the sessions for the band's full debut LP, "'Til Death's." campaign has been self financed with the only belief laying in the strength of the music and the fact the stale situation that music (South Wales in particular) had been in of recent times. "That overwhelming, frustrating feeling that you have music for people to hear and knowing in your heart you should genuinely have the chance to get it to the public drove us on.so many bands have been lucky and have done fuck all to justify their position we've been here once, gave it what we thought was a band firing on all cylinders and gave it our best shot the beauty of hindsight is that (although the press reactions was fantastic) we've reached the point where we are real contenders, with something to fight for and never willing to back down from."

"'Til Death Do us Party"'s violent break-neck opener "Shock Horror" the a call-to-arms to a generation desensitized by entertainment, with lyricist Andrews using Incest ("A keen subject of mine") to drill home the point of "If you have anything to say to the masses, make it relative and universally understandable, but as far as I am concerned, sometimes an ideal needs to be slammed at the listener, and only really taboo notions can get people to listen and talk most (Kerrang!) bands are screaming about this and that, what's the point of shouting so loud if no-one can understand your message? It's fucking pointless"

"The Law Of Tooth And Fang" is a personal paean and dedication to cult writer Hunter S. Thompson someone who the band share their outlaw-esque ways with. Combining furiously catchy riffage with hooky visual imagery, Thompson's taste for the strange left a massive impact with the band, present in the musical as well as lyrical side "(Hunter S) Thompson always stood on the wrong side of the tracks, knew his position and thoroughly believed his word was the gospel and the right thing to believe in we (MIDASUNO) recognized this attitude and made an instant kinship in fighting the right to do what you find true to your heart South Wales has recently (In the last few years) been revered for good, original music but as also spawned an almost unbelievable number of wannabes and hangers on. We've had to wade through this and without the spirit of the outsider (that Thompson had), you wouldn't float above the corpses of bands who are just in it for the moment"

Already having featured on a covermount CD on last years Rock Sound magazine' s 'Music With Attitude' monthly series and bagging the converted 'No.1' spot on the reader vote for favorite track in an latter edition, "A Machine; The Rhythm Thief" is a pounding anthem for today's alternative youth for the black sheep of the crowd and for those who truly want to embrace being different as a positive thing. Rounding the E.P off with arguably the band's most ambitious effort to date; the riff heavy shape-shifting "Sirens" acts as a taste for the bands forthcoming debut full length album, showing the juxtaposition of the bands ever-present keen ear for some razor-sharp bouts of musical 'Punch and Judy' with the evidence of a further exploration into the world of electronics something MIDASUNO are embracing with caution; "Everything we do with the sampling / effects side of the band is an experiment, we know the sounds we want to make but have to struggle to make them materialize, this way we've kept it all quite 'punk rock' for want of a better phrase. We want to create the aural equivalent of Tetsuo's ' The Salaryman '(Asian Bleak Sci-Fi masterpiece's main character), using technology to bolster our sound, but remaining fundamentally organic in the process - something vital and not for the sake of having the chance to make noises onstage."

MIDASUNO along with independent promoters and bookers are currently lining up live dates across the UK in support of the release for summer of 2006, including a return to Cardiff's Compass Point festival (Saturday 29th July). Already aching to return to their beloved 'toilet circuit', the band are early anticipating the opportunity to relentlessly promote their new release, with a burning desire to win over anyone who is willing to get in the way; "We have something here that we are all collectively very proud of, and at the end of the day, we've got the record ready under our belts, and MIDASUNO are in it for the live performances, we'll be taking no prisoners and are out to set everyone and everything on fire"
