Biography
Founded in 1996 by Rob Garza and Eric Hilton of Thievery Corporation, ESL Music has quickly become one of the worlds leading independent music labels. Initially established to deliver the sounds of Thievery Corporation to the world, the label has since expanded its artist roster and taken off to new horizons.

Active within the emerging electronic music scene of the mid 90s, Eric and Rob dropped ESL Musics first vinyl singles 2001 Spliff Odyssey, and Shaolin Satellite to rave review. Borrowing from the classically sensual and blunted sounds of their favorite Brazilian bossa nova, Jamaican dub reggae, and vintage Italian film soundtracks Thievery Corporation forged into new sonic territory that would become the distinct outernational sound of ESL Music.

From the mod-breakbeats of Ursula 1000 and Chris Joss, the spy film and near eastern polyrhythms of Thunderball and The Karminsky Experience, the ethereal soundscapes of Blue States and Arkestra One, the sinister atmospherics of Sofa Surfers, the jazz-infusion of Nicola Conte and Les Hommes, and the Latin soul of Federico Aubele, ESL Music offers a wide range of sonic temptations for the discriminating and sophisticated ears of the music aficionado.
