Cudamantra formed 15 billion years ago when atoms smashed into eachother at light speed. A malevolent cloud of bastardised rock music then formed in the alcoholian belt and moved inexorably towards Earth and after a epic journey crossing epochs and eons and time beyond reckoning, settled on the sleepy blue planet and waited in Volcanos for the time of calling, when Tom Cruise and John Travolta would call them forth in a mighty eruption.
Thats one theory. A slightly more accurate theory is that Bassist Bill Long and drummer Johnny Sequeira were joined by guitarist James Kiely and soon after, vocalist and vibesman Glyn Evans. This all happened circa 2000.
Drawing from a multitude of influences that span the spectrum of rock, prog metal, fusion and ....miscellaneous, the band initially settled on a classic/stoner rock vibe and released a demo in 2002 entitled "Straight on 'til morning". This was well recieved by those who managed to get hold of a copy.
But really, this was just the band finding a footing. As the sound continued to develop, another demo was created to remind people we were still alive in the shape of 2004's "Beyond Continuum". Again, those that heard it were impressed but it was still only a stepping stone to a new direction. The song Cimmerian was a hint of things to come as the band looked at going in the direction that was always on the cards.
For a while now the band had a policy of recording every jam session from whence the songs came. A smelting pool from which the occasional portion was taken, cooled and shaped into something familiar to people. From this policy also came the Jamscapes project. This was the slag that was still in the smelting pool. Untouched, unmastered and raw.
Two CD's have so far been created and there is potentially limitless amounts to come. We have had unprecedented response for these and have been providing them for free as much as possible.
This brings us to our first attempt at producing a 'proper' album. Hopefully fans will recognise and appreciate the evolution of the sound that is imminently to descend upon you in the shape of 'Electrogenia'. This will comprise a vast, epic sound we feel is our strong suit as well as a mix of other moods and vibes. Its been a long time coming and we hope it will have been worth it. Creating it has been my most profound musical pleasure thus far.
We also recognise that, whilst our live shows have been well recieved and well supported (We thank you all), they have been far too few and far between. This will all change. We will be on the road as soon as Electrogenia is released and will endeavour to reach as many weird and wonderful places that time and resources allow.
